We gave Green Timbers Lake in Surrey a try this afternoon. This is another good urban put and take fishery where shore access is easy. A couple of days ago the Fraser Valley Trout Hatchery put in another 50 or so brood fish, some up to 7lb. We hooked a few fish today, all of them were the 12 inch catchables that were put in a few weeks ago. The lake is mostly frozen, we were only able to fish a small melted patch. I would think with the cold weather this weekend, it will be completely frozen. Fishing should be good when the temperature rises again.

I dropped by the lake today it is fully covered in ice, they are filming up at the lake there is some scaffolding up there as well but they didn't want the lake to be frozen so they have put filming on hold, at least thats what the security guy said anyways.

I was hoping to be the first  to get one of those brood stockers on.

They're doing their first filming on the 18th. Not sure what the white ball is supposed to be. The film is alien related apparently.

Looks like the lake will be covered with that thin film of ice for awhile, but the fishing should be very good as soon as it becomes ice free. Good luck.

Was there last June ,did you see the Eagle and Ospreys diving and catching lots of fish there still?

Hi Rod. I heard that you could not use bait in the lake. I can't find my reg book to check it out. Is this true ? Thanks Mike

Didn't see any Eagle or osprey diving. It would have been interesting, since the eagle or osprey would have gotten a rather bad headache with that thin layer of ice on the surface.

There isn't a bait ban at Green Timbers Lake. The best way to check for bait ban and other gear restrictions at a paricular lake, is by going to this page and find the lake's name in the table. If bait ban is not stated, then you are allowed to use it.

Pretty much all stocked lakes in the Lower Mainland do not have a bait ban. The closest lake with a bait ban that I can think of is Alta Lake in Whistler.

Yes. That must be the sign I heard about but my buddy couldn't remember exactly what it said. Thanks guys.

We didn't see the sign mentioned. Actually, I saw quite a bit of used Powerbait scattered on the beach where we fished.
