Just got back from a look at the Vedder, it felt a bit more like Winter than Spring, snow level down on the local mountains as well. I notice very few anglers out which is surprising for a long weekend, maybe the lack of fish around lately, in the Lower anyway. The water conditions by the way were ideal too.
I decided to fish one run that is fishable from the road even though I was really not planning to fish today but the run that has given me two fish this year looked so good.
Just as I am getting the rod ready a chap comes down from above on the other side of the river but he only makes a couple of casts in the run as he seems to be on a mission, to get to a particular run?
I have just made a few casts and a guest of the forum stops and asks if this is the Leaf Mobile. He is from Port Coquitlam and enjoys FWR. He adds it is the best fishing forum too.
As we chat I see the angler I mentioned above who is now down a couple of runs below us, (the Double Stump) is setting the hook. Sure enough his pole has a nice arch in it and he is following the fish downstream. We see the fish clear the water as well and it is not long after that the fish is flipping on the beach, it looks like a nice bright fish too. I guess that is why the fellow was in a rush to get to this spot.
My vistor is now excited with the prospect that a few fish have moved into the area today. I tell him if he wants to turn around and drive up the road a bit I will show him where he can cross the river. He is anxious to do so and I point out a few runs he could try. I say to him if he catches a fish he better become a member of FWR so we can hear about his day.
As he gets ready, I head for home, sort of wishing I had my waders along so I could join him but I remember I had baby sitting duties anyway. I hope he has a "Good Friday" and happy Easter to you all too.
