Lafarge Lake April 12th, 2008
« on: April 14, 2008, 07:22:13 PM »

So I was at lafarge sat.morn.Arrived at 9 am there were 11 tubes or pontoons on the water already, 8 or 9 on shore. The action was pretty good I got into 7 in a couple hours.Others did better. They were a good size and decent fight.Unfortunately there was at least one person on shore that killed four, left and came back and started fishing again (DAMN double dippers). But he was confronted and then left again. It's too bad a co can't spend some time fishing there and be able to catch them red handed.A couple of heavy fines could go a long way. IMO.

Each time when the lake is stocked, an email goes out to the other hatchery staff, ministry staff, conservation officers so they are aware of the angler increase anticipated in the following days. Be sure to phone in violators whenever you see them, they are after all stealing resource that is owned by you and me. Conservation officers can't attend all violations reported, but they do their best if they are in the area. The frequency of reports from a particular area would also make conservation officers focus on that area more often. It is also good to see more anglers fishing, so they can keep an eye out for violators constantly. Also great to see some good fishing happening, with the new "Fishing in the City" program, Lafarge Lake will receive up to 1,000 rainbow trout once every two weeks until the end of June.

Ya that was a great day. your right about the crowds though. I hooked into some of the bigger ones they stocked. 14-18 inches and had a blast. It is sad though how some people have no regard for the regs. Still I mostly saw veryu sporting practices. I went again tonight and hooked into a few more, every time I go I have a blast. I have been hooking into most of my fish on green and olive bead head leaches.

Yeah, fishing was good that day, I got a few within the 14 - 17 inch range.

You guys should submit some of your photos for the Fishy Shot contest to win some DNE floats and hooks. ;)

What did you see ? I saw some guys in overalls haulin' em in one after another.  >:( I'm sure the aggressive stocking they will do over the next two months will coincide with alot more visible put and take poaching.

Yeh i was there today an saw some guys get there limit and kept on taking more so i paddled over and gave them what for
at first they gave the old no under stand smile ;D
but they soon got the message from my hand gestures and they left :D
some guys on one side were using gear fit for sturgeon fishing :o
and i saw one guy haul a fish up the gravel bank stick his fingers down its throat to get the hook out then launch it back in the water >:(
I am sure there are some retired guys\dog walkers etc that would love to do some volunteer policing of this lake
Maybe this should be proposed to the local Authorities

Needs a live feed from a web cam. Preferably with some kind of rocket launcher on it.
