brunette river june 1st
« on: June 01, 2008, 04:40:49 PM »

Tried fishing the brunette river today with my buddy. We were bottom and float fishing with worms. we got two squawfish and hooked into a trout but it popped off
We were trying to go for bass but we didnt hook into any. We were fishing at hume park. We walked down the trail a bit and found a nice spot wich is where we got the squaws. Also caught a bunch of crayfish that bit the hook and wouldn't let go. Does anybody know where you can catch bass down there?

There was a posting a long time ago.  Couple of guys fished Brunette River for the first timer at Hume Park, but they had to walk about 15-20 minutes down the river.  They were fishing with flies and worms and they ended up catching a few rainbows and cutties.  I always wanted to fish the Brunette River but the river always seemed black and low during the  late spring and summer months.  The bass are not native to the Brunette River so don't expect catching 'em.

Largemouth bass has been seen and caught in the Brunette river. It's a non-native species, but it's still very rare to catch one.  Another rare fish you can catch in the Brunette is the pumpkinseed sunfish.

I've heard of bass being caught there too by a few people.

I live beside it and have fished for many years, but you wont find many bass in there anymore .any bass I catch in the brunette and burnaby lake I kill.

THEY DONT BELONG THERE. never was LARGEMOUTH bass put into burnaby lake. I started catching them in the late 90's .before the late 90's I never seen a bass in there. I fished it since I was 7-8 years old.

there is a few pumpkin seeds "but not many"

It would make sense that there would be bass in the river. If the lake spills into the river!?
