Ambleside for Coho, August 1st 2008
« on: August 02, 2008, 06:42:03 PM »

Well fished Ambleside Friday saw one small school on incoming tide got nothing just like my fellow fishermen beside me.I even ventured out to the lighthouse on the outgoing tide didnt even see a fish jump or any schools. After going back to shore i was informed the river was up at two on the marker up at the hatchery that explains were all the fish went on wednesday that some of the anglers saw around the railway bridge in the estuary Today Sat fished the estuary again we saw no schools at all so walked over to Ambleside didnt think it was even think it was worth fishing it to my surprise one thirteen lb white spring and a small coho caught out of say eight guys great odds huu Talked to a few guys i found out river was up even higher than yesterday so of course went over there to my vavorite spot fished it for couple hrs whith another angler who proclaimed its the wost hes seen in the twenty five yrs he has bin fishing the Cap so that lets you know how the river is.Now im dissapointed and bored so i went down to see how first nations are doing well just *** poorly i saw one fish go under the brige. Is this the decline of the Cap coho fishery? Hopefully the fall fishery will be better :'(

I decided to head out this afternoon around 3:30 and the river is mint right now! I managed a four lb beauty within the first 30 mins! Made my day! Played a few other nibblers and missed a couple more takes. I forgot how fast these coho can be! At any rate nice to get out on the flow for sure!

i don't want to make it any worse, but checked out dogleg(saw 2 fish) and cable pool (1).  no one sniffed anything.  went down to the mouth and didn't see a single fish jump.  really f'n bizarre man.  there really should be fish with water levels and the great tide we had tonight.

I just checked the water level and its below 1 right now. Was thinking about heading up for a peek but the bozos in control of the water level there have torched that idea. Oh well, the Vedder is still a viable option, although I do love the Cap but its just a puddle right now.
