monday sept 1/08
« on: September 01, 2008, 03:55:16 PM »

Well today was the official family barfing day, so we loaded up at about 4:30am to hit the road(wife is not impressed at the early hours) we were the first to set up shop on the bar.RLN was not far behind in his sled with his wife. beauty weather, no people........and best of all no snaggers.
I plopped out the first green top and before I could string up the other rods, wham ding-a-ling-ding-a-ling.....fish on, so crash (aka john, my son) slams back on a 20 lb red. No tripping this time he did good ,but I took over when the fish came close to shore.
As I string up the next rod, turn my back for a second and, wham ding-a-ling-ding-a-ling. The wife slams back a big 7-8 lb jack , only to lose it close to shore.
RLN did lose a beauty to a jump, perhaps another 20 lber...............man I'm tired from running back and forth to those rods.
so 4 jacks later, and one 20 lb doe..........AWSOME day with good friends and family.

I guess this is why bottom bouncers do what they do..........less gear involved.

The action was hot n heavy out there today. I hooked into myself 11 springs and ended up killing a 20lbs red doe.

As Rodney points out, the notices state that there is no retention of springs Sept1-3, unless of course it is a typo (which isn't unlikely).

most likely some sort of typo. DFO and creel survey person at Island 22 were looking at all the chinooks coming in on Monday and not writing any sort of tickets.

Four of us went out at 3PM yesterday and saw lots of action. My brother caught a 35LBer and a friend caught a 26 but nothing for me or our other friend. Once again though lots of fun playing in the sun with bent rods all around. If there is a mis-understanding with the regs. it sure did'nt seem to bother the 15 or 20 guys we fished with. All in all a wonderful afternoon out and the girls had a blast as well searching and finding plenty of pretty little agates. I did leave with four big skeins of roe compliments of my bro and another nice fisherman. Thanks guys, it should work great in the Vedder in a couple weeks. Good Fishing All. :D

There is a bait ban on the Fraser from Sept 1st.

you may want to read the regulations a little closer. The bait ban is only when targeting salmon and is not in effect above the mission bridge until Sept. 4/08. If you want to fish for cutthroat or steelhead, you can still use bait. DFO has no authority to impose a blanket bait ban on the non tidal portions of the Fraser river. They only control fishing for salmon. MoE would be the guys that would put a bait ban on the river and so far they have not done such a thing.

Perhaps some of you need to find out a little more about me before you make assumptions, I did not start fishing yesterday, and have done more than most will ever think about doing, some of you dimwits should learn how to read and if there was a problem as rln has pointed out DFO/and the creel persons at the launch would have informed us. so instead of slagging someone who is WAAAAAAAy more successful than you get off your butts and catch some fish (I know some of you dont really fish and dont know how to fish ).

I really need some BEAK-BE-GONE

Nice fish and it's so productive!  Curious where is it for the bar fishing?
