Hello from Hungary !
« on: August 21, 2008, 03:40:43 AM »

I wanted to take a moment and say hello, we are travelling through Hungary with the kids and having a great time in the sometimes + 40 C heat.
The fishing in hungary is not great in the heat as the season seems to be past in May- July. When in season the target is Carp and Catfish in slow moving Sloughs. pardon the pun.

We will be here about another week before heading home.

Look forward,
CJ.

Lucky you, CJ.
Hungary is a beautiful country. The food, wine and the beer are exceptional. And the women! Wow!!!!!!!!!!!
Fishing is not so good at the best of times. It's been fished out. If you do get near Lake Balaton, try that for a couple of hours. Lots of carp, etc. in there. And the view on those nude beaches is well worth it.
Enjoy!  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Hey CJ enjoy the hot climate while you can because its drizzly and damp cold here in Vancouver right now. Catfish and carp when in season is most certainly one of the reasons we are so blessed here on the westcoast with our choice of salmon, steelhead, trout and many more possibilitties. I hope you and your family have a safe and wonderful trip and we'll see you when you get back. The coho should be getting set to show their pearly whites in the Vedder any day now. :)

Hello all!

"How good is Hungarian pálinka? Edward VIII, heir to the English throne, answered this question when visiting Hungary in 1935 as follows: 'The apricot pálinka of Kecskemét drunk with soda is better than whisky, and with tea better than rum.' The fruit, whose delicious and distinctive floral scent, and light spicy bouquet are transmitted to fruit-specific noble spirits, is grown on expertly tended fruit trees. After resting and ageing the spirit becomes smoother, airy and rounded, and its flavours and aroma harmoniously integrated. This is how wonderful Hungarian fruit is turned into fruit-specific fruit-brandy which inimitably resembles the original fruit."

I was able to enjoy some Korte pálinka this being the pear variety and am pleased to be able to report sevral bottles nicely stashed away made it through customs no problem  :D

Glad to see the fishing has picked up, I may try to get out this weekend, probably will in fact.

Look forward,
