Spring Chaser, August 23rd 2008
« on: August 24, 2008, 09:43:10 AM »

I hit the Fraser last weekend, moved around a bit and managed to loose a spring and finally apply a rock shampoo to one in the same location as 'ArmyTruck'. The chase was interesting until I found out the top eyelet recently replaced on my rod tip was too small to let the BB rig through. Hand lining was the only alternative to net it which was finally successful after three tries.

Yesterday I tried the same spot again with no hook ups for me or anybody else around. So I moved up river into the crowd and found an opening on the shore, anchor and setup for the possibility of a chase down river. The first one I lost last week was because of not being prepared.  You don't get second chances when out there alone and it's still a task to start the engine push off, maneuver, fight and land a fish. Well all set to go I make the first cast and start swearing immediately because of a snag ...... then head shakes and singing line begin - the chase was on. After tiring the doe out, hand lining didn't work so I headed to a bar where she was beached. I bet all the boats I passed getting to my spot where ticked to see me drift by immediately after anchoring but I had put my time in to get lucky.

You see the top eye is not meant to have the rig go threw. That is probable why you had to replace it in the first place. Also if you have the rig at the top eye and you still can not land the fish, should tell you that your leader is way to long  ::)
