Chilliwack River, September 23rd 2008
« on: September 23, 2008, 04:57:17 PM »

Beautiful day to hit the local flow. Unlike weekends, crowd was not a problem. At approximately 0720 hours there were 8 fishermen at Keith Wilson, about 6 at the Crossing and another 6 at Wilson Road. My buddy and I started at mid river. I had one brief hit and run. We tried two other runs with no success then proceeded to the upper section. At the run we were at, several nice springs were caught. No cohos. Water clarity in the lower section was about 2 feet. It was clear on top. We called it a day at 1230 hours and went for lunch. On the drive back there were 15 cars at Wilson. Was there a fishing convention that I missed. ;D

Fished first light at a spot near peach rd and crossing bridge, a nice deep pocket water.  Caught my first spring of the season at around 7am, a white buck, not sure about the weight as i am not good in estimation. :)
had two more on my lost both, the second one was believed to be a coho around 6 lbs, which was able to spit the hook near the beach, another one should be a spring that broke my 10bs leader.  All 3 of them took roes.
Drove around after fishing and found there was an absolute gong show below the crossing bridge.  Lots of guys fishing there but not nearly as many floats can be seen.   ::)     Tamahi was almost full, and on my way home, i also saw around 7 cars at KWB.  And this is only Tuesday!!  geez, i guess lots of people r getting sick and can't go to work each year this time around eh!!   ;) :D

Great looking fish, Sinaran!  Glad to hear you had some luck out there... too bad you didn't get the coho to shore.  How long were you fishing for?

4 hours.  I was gonna give Wilson rd a try, but the water there was too low and clear plus too many fishermen around  :-\

After yesterday's success, we decided to try our hand again.  We arrived at the river about an hour later than previous, we quickly walked down the trail.  Water clarity has clearly improved.  Okay this can be bad.  With the sky as bright as it is... we might have to wait till late afternoon for the last light.  Still we gave it a try.  Surely enough it's dead, very dead, not a sniff for a long while.  We ended up driving into town to grab a bite.  Ya it's that SLOW.  We took our time, had a couple cups of coffee before returning to the river.  It's still only 2ish and the sun is of course high above.  So fishing as let's just say..

Fast Forward

Now we're looking at 6ish.   :D  Okay finally, the first take down of the day.  Wow, a silver flash, could it be coho!?!  It leaped...  Okay nope not a coho but a decent spring on the small side but heck it's still pretty fresh..  The fight ended soon with a few dashes only.  Soon after helping my friend land his fish I was into a fish myself.  Another chromer, this is good.  Sun has now set behind the mountains.  We still need the light to walk back, and we called it a day.  No coho but 2 chrome springs.  Smaller being a male and bigger fish is a female.

PS both marble springs

Aren't you lucky being able to fish on weekdays.
I can only think about it....
Keep 'em coming.

Fished the Vedder for the first time this year. I arrived at the river around 7 and took a little walk away from the crowds and found a little holding water before some shallow riffles and with in 10min had fish rolling in front of me. Several springs where hooked and landed and lost! It was a great first trip water was perfect and very little rain.
