For bright Squamish and ocean chum: play it carefully, just as you would any other fish.

Vedder and Stave chum: point the rod at it and break it off. Retie your leader and try for a coho.  :D

Hopefully the same for me but conditions don't repeat themselves - blades worked well that day but purple wool was just as effective. Always a lot to learn.

As for catching a coho in the Stave - there were so many chums it would be hard to retie enough :)

When fly fishing for coho around dark chums I tied my flies on dry fly hooks(fine wire)then when unwanted chum hooked ;hook can be straitened out easily and re bent a few times(mild steel hooks) if you see silver play light and you should be O.K. 8)

Hey, at my level I can't be picky.  Its a thrill for me to get anything at all, even if it is an ugly old chum ;)
