for no other reason than to have another poll, and possibly discuss some merits of each that I haven't already thought of.

I drift fish slinkies almost exclusivly without float and about an 18 inch leader, I love them and rarely lose one to the river.

I prefer pencil lead. Easy to rig.

Why isn't split shot up there? I have never used slinkie weights and have used pencil lead less than a half dozen times.

If I find a slinkie I'll use it. I also like split shot spread out on the line at times. And of course a BB.

should be a spot for split shot or "neither" has it's not just a pencil lead world out there.

I know there are a billion ways to get your bait down, but only want to talk about these two ways.  That's why I didn't add more options.

I prefer slinkies when I'm side drifting because it's easier to keep everyone bouncing at the same rate when you have that kind of accuracy on the amount of weight.

Wouldn't using a slinky mean your bottom feeding :-\ I mean the darn thing is designed to not get snagged on the bottom. Cheers to those bottom feeding slinky sloughdogs. :)

IMO slinkies are fished the exact way as lead.  Slinkies are a little more expensive to make and not easy to adjust on the water.  If your lead is a little too heavy, you can always cut off a small chunk and keep rollin.  I do however, like to add scent to the slinkie.  The webbing will hold some nectar which increases the scent trail of the bait your using.
