first time i ever fished that lake was on the July long weekend. noone had caught anything for about 10days we were told. We both tied on a Green Damsel Nymph and headed out for some trolling (perfect for covering water) and we both had one in the net a few mins later. needless to say we got asked lots what we were using that weekend. I would be taking those for sure and dont go without Pumkinhead flies either.

green damsels and chronimids aswell as brown and green buggers were working the best for flys over the may long weekend. i tried two slightly different pumpkin head patterns and neither worked the whole weekend. but they were also spawning up the river so that was deffinitly affecting the fishing.

I can remember encountering the same scenario at tunkwa a few years ago. None had been catching anything, so I threw on a black sprately about a #12 and hooked up fish right away trolling deep. I remember people seeming surprised when I would answer their questions as to what I was using and how I was fishing it, like they were expecting some esoteric fly and technique. Also, there was a gal that worked in the local tackle shop in Logan Lake and she had made her own Tunkwa damsel nymph. It was a light mauve in color, not very large say a #12, with eyes, and it was awesome. After trying it out I bought a handfull. Definitely worth dropping in there!
