hmmmm.........I missed it , that sounded like fun ! I do agree , that lake is too vast and deep for planting 3 tagged fish. :-\

This derby in California sounds like fun as well.

It was advertised in the BC Outdoors magazine and Match Hatch’r fly and tackle shop. I think most people only took a quick glance at the poster and walked away when they saw the initial price of $99 per entry. Even the registration form said that it was $99 after the entry fee was dropped to $50 and I think a lot of people saw the price and were a turn off. :-\

Come to think of it there are two issues here i havent read yet.
oh man i must be getting old or something cause i used to read them the second i got them.

Catch stats from the derby

Kokanne – 180 (30 adults and 15 kids each with 4 fish) average fish weight .8 and average total of four fish total weight was 2.2 lbs

Rainbow trout – 4 – all the same size (average .8 - .9 lbs)

Cutthroat trout – 2 (one small one, caught by a child from shore, was kept alive in a bucket and released after being weighed)

Bull trout – 2 – Largest was 3.7 lbs and the second one was 1.4 lbs

Northern pikeminnow – 6 – largest 2.14 lbs (lots of people claimed to catch quite a few but they released them)

10 fish were caught from shore, including 1 Cutthroat, 3 Pike Minnows and 6 Kokanne
