Fraser Valley, June 15th 2009: Great Time on a Little Lake
« on: June 17, 2009, 05:32:40 PM »

PS... if anyone knows of this lake, please don't disclose it.

Me and and Ryan decided to go up to a little local lake on Monday.
Finally made it to his house at around 3:45 and we were on our way. Started the drive up the forestry road and pulled over to take some pictures of the valley below.

We finally get up to the lake (after what seemed like way too long of a drive). Pumped up all the tubes, got all the gear together and got out onto the water.
There were 6 other people out in boats and float tubes, more than I have ever seen on this very small lake.
We are out for no longer than 5 mins and Ryan hooks up with his first fish, a suprisingly nice fat rainbow that made multiple jumps.
While kicking over to him with the net my rod almost goes over the side of my tube, anther nice fat bow that made 5 or 6 jumps and was lost 3 feet from the tube.

Ryan's fish

fooling around with underwater camera.

Action was pretty consistant. I was trolling an Olive Woolly Bugger on a sink tip line, and a couple different dries on floating (stimulator, midge, etc).
I ended up hitting around 8 fish on the sink tip and had around 12 on the dry fly. Only ended up landing 9 with Ryan getting around as many.
At one point in the day I was fooling around with the new camera and had to catch my rod going over the side of the boat from the hit on the dry fly.
The fish were hitting HARD and fighting just as hard, jumping on average 5 times after hookup. Many were getting me wet as we got them close to the net.

Another fatty

Length shot (average size, got quite a few bigger ones)

Fishy shot

And one last cool shot to end it off

Sorry, kind of got carried away with the new camera.
Ended the day with a great view overlooking the fraser valley, with all the city lights glimmering (no pics turned out).
Saw a couple deer on the way back on the logging road as well.
Was a great day, can't wait to get out again, as lately been pre occupied with school and work (only been fishing 3 times in last 2 months).

Hope you enjoyed.
