Just doing a week in Belize with a 6 weight, this is an affordable place to be and the fly fishing is awesome, I know this is a BC website but I'll be posting pics and info when I get back for any one that's interested, btw every good thing you've ever heard or read about bonefish is true and and probably understated. I won't be checking this website until I return but if you've got questions I'll get on top of it upon my return.

Here we go, unfortunately while we were on the bones it got really hard to find a photographer in the boat we never saw any fish tailing because the flats we were fishing was about 4-6 ft. deep but where the schools were feeding the water was totally muddied so it looked like you dropped a piece of the Fraser in a pool of gin.

this is a big mud pool caused by a school feeding they started at about  20 ft. by 30ft. and could be spotted from hundreds of yards away.

Heres a bone I caught you can see the mud behind me

Tarpon off the dock in front of the Sunset Grill (the fishermen have been feeding them here for 30 yrs.)

My son Trevor stipping for tarpon later in the day.

underwater pic of our snorkeling excursion just in case you think there are no fish around have a look, these yellowtails swam right with us like we were part of the school.

Here's me into a bone that must have been coming towards me cuz the rod got way more humped over than that as the norm, I would compare a 2 pound bonefish to perhaps a 4 pound kamloops with the bonefish haveing more speed and indurance but the rainbow giving way better jumps.
We didn't catch any tarpon but our guide put us on to at least 25 of them in about an 11/2 hours, they are tough when you see them cruising you've got to put it directly in front of them fast and then strip strip strip right to the boat if you stop or slow your retrieve they 'll just turn and run, I'm sure if we would have spent all day at it we would of got some hookups but it's a lot like sitting in a deer stand waiting and watching and not getting enough shots in, after a while we just got him to take us back to the bones, when you're haveing that much fun it's hard to quit, we probably landed 25 or 30 bonefish that day and were amonst them most of the time we were out.
Not being anywhere near an expert fly caster I was in quite a bit of trouble with the guide and my son for spooking the bones (no water whipping allowed) till I settled down and started paying attention and keeping my fly well in the air above the water till I made my final presentation.
The guide liked to fish, liked the fish, and was into conservationalism to the utmost had been guiding the waters for 44 yrs. had his own little artificial reefs he hauled out in his skiff along with a 4 story lobster trap out there on the flats that he told us would hold up to 200 lobster when fish didn't move into it.
I could write a book on this so I'll just stop here any questions I'll chk in here in a couple days or just pm me.

Thanks for the read Nosey, looks like you guys had a blast!

One of my friends did a similar trip last year and loved it so much he went out and bought an 11 wt for tarpon and is going back next year. He even convinced me to go with him! so seeing reports like this only gets me more excited.
