So my brother calls me up last tuesday wanting to see if i was interested in a fishing and over night camping trip up at grassy bar.  I take him up on the offer after thinking about it for awhile .  I had already been bar fishing at two bit that day with my son so was a bit tired but I figured it should be fun and it's fishing and spending time with my bro.  So we packed up and headed out, got set up, did a bit of fishing, sat around and had a couple cold browns and turned in.  What I thought was going to be a nice peaceful night turned into something far from that.  Are neighbors across the river had the music pumping till at least 130 am, my brother like to snore and talk in his sleep, so lets just say that sleep really wasn't in the equation.  With the alarm set for 5 am, morning came fast.  The alarm went off and I laid their not moving to fast, plus because it was still dark.  Next thing I hear is a boat putting by, I say to my brother, what's that, and he tells me that this is the 3rd time he's heard them.  The next minute I hear a boat coming down river and i say to my brother maybe this will be fisheries.  The boat get closer and closer by this time were out of the tent and the next thing thats happening is the chase is on.  The spot lights the loud speaker and after a few futile attempts to get away the chase is over.  Busted busted busted.  Five minutes later another boat comes up river to set a net and Dfo is all over them and bust them to..  So they seize two boats, nets, fish and a camp and arrest 4 guys.  Good to see.  The fishing that day for us wasn't as successful.  Saw a few springs caught.  Water is slowly clearing.  Also the lower is shaping up nicely.  My son caught a cutthroat and a few pikeminnows, bullheads, missed one really good bite.  Definitely some memories.

Love it when that happens.  Good job DFO.  Hopefully there is pollitical will for them to keep everything that was seized and ban those guys from fishing for life.

Good story. The general belief among most anglers is that illegal netting, especially at night, is ignored by Fisheries and Oceans Canada. This is not the case as most net/boat ceasing are not announced to the public.

How big was the cutthroat trout? They become more abundant as we approach October and November.

Rod (or anyone), what happens to the ceased equipment?  Sounds like an opportunity to buy a cheap boat or fishing gear.

Rod, the cutthroat was about 8".  Nothing to big but a beautiful looking fish.  All the pikeminnows were between 4"-12".  Looking forward to the next trip.

i also camped out at grassy bar at the beginning of the season .. and i saw a boat floating down a couple of times netting at like 3 am in the morning!!! i think it was the natives trying to scam fish at the wee hours in the morning.
