Tidal Fraser River, September 8th 2009: Where did they go?
« on: September 08, 2009, 08:45:12 PM »

Rushed to south arm as soon as I saw my manager leave hoping to play with those beautiful pinks.  Found a nice rock to sit on when I got to the river and began chucking spoons.  Weather was beautiful, waters were calm.  But few fish were seen.  A jumper every so often but none were biting.  Fished from 6-8pm.  Nada.  But beautiful evening by the river though.  :)

There was a large push of fish thru the North Arm when I started fishing around 5:30PM but none were interested in my offerings ???. It tapered off to a trickle of fish between 6:30 and 8:00 but I managed to hook two and land one ocean bright male ;D. Fishersak did the netting honors. He also landed one shortly thereafter. Saw a few other fish caught as well.

The fishing was a bit slower this morning than previous days as a few who did not have to work were out braving the cold southeasterly wind. Right away my dad connected with a fish, which fell off the hook almost immediately due to poor hook-set. The first fish, especially happening early in an outing, is always hard to land because we are often unprepared. ;D We watched Fish Assassin putting on a show after his dismal result from the previous morning. At one point I saw some good rises further downstream from him and thought, "FA will be getting another one any minute now." Sure enough, the hookset came not long after that thought. I managed to produce two hook-ups from the four bites that I had. One fish was lost while the other one was released. By 9:00am, we had enough of the wind and went home for breakfast.

In the afternoon, Nina and I returned to take a peek briefly. A few risers could be seen but not much excitement along the shoreline.

Depends on location and time etc etc like always..... yesterday (the 8th) I was in ft langley at 630am and limited out by 715...  every cast or two was bites and every 3rd or 4th was fish on - stayed like that until after I had to leave around 8ish.  I went back (different local) for 20 mins just as it was getting dark and had 2 to the beach that I realeased (had already taken my limit in the AM).

BUT as I've read stories like this from say Richmond, I've gone for hours around fort langley and been skunked and seen only one or two between a gazillion or so fisherman around.
