Clifford Lake (Pike Mountain), September 12th & 13th 2009

found the way alright. thanks for the directions you guys. the drive up was interesting you could say. tagged a good size doe with the front bumper of my truck driving through brookmere. she got up, looked at me, took acouple steps then bounced off into the bush. no damage to the truck so everthing was ok. later on we came across a cow moose having something to eat on the side of the road. got to the lake and the fish were jumping everywhere. i mean jumping 4 feet out of the water. never seen that before. thought we were in for lots of action but not so much. pulled out every weapon i had and only hooked into 1 fish. my buddy landed a nice one and hooked into a few more. that was about it. it was hotter than i thought it would be this time of year. almost to hot for kicking around in a pontoon. nice place up there and will go back for sure to check out some of the other lakes. whens a good time to go?

sounds like a good trip to me  ;D when you landed the one fish, did you do a stomach pump to find out what was on the menu?? that has saved my trip more then once  ;) except when they are feeding on Daphnia  >:( cause you just cant imitate those properly.

nope, no pump. that would have helped out. i even thought about trolling a flat fish on my fly rod. thats how hurting it was.

hey i have seen guys doing that on their fly rods and it can be deadly at times. Go buy yourself a throat pump you wont regret it, and a little glass vile with lid also to dump the goodies into so you can view them well. I have pumped fish so full i could barely fit water inside it with all the bugs in there  :o and my viles are very large. I pumped a fish (that i kept) 3 times and got the pump full each time, what a pig !!

trust me on the throat pump its one of the best fly fishing tools you need besides rods, reels, lines and flies.
