Rice Lake Fishing

I'm fishing Rice Lake tomorrow, and I just read a thread on another forum about how polluted it is. Anyone have any incite on whether to eat the fish or not?

rice lake is not polluted and the fish are good to eat,water is warm so fish deep.

Rice Lake is not polluted at all, in fact at one time it was the back-up drinking water reservoir for North Vancouver when Lynn creek was too low.

Rice Lake is a very profuse fishery and during spring or fall you can catch lots of sizable trout on any given day. Keep an  eye out for poachers, it seems like every second guy in there cheats!

Rice Lake is not polluted as others above have mentioned. Prior to trout stocking, the ministry's biologists conduct tests to ensure that water quality is beyond satisfactory. If consumption of these fish is not recommended, there would be public advisory notices posted at the lake.

Regarding poaching problem at Rice Lake, it was discussed via email between MoE, Seymour Conservative Reserve, the hatchery/FFSBC and other angling representatives a few months ago. The authorities are always looking for better solutions. Anglers can assist by always phoning in violations or reporting to the front gate. Like all urban put and take lakes, violations are often more frequent. Because Rice Lake is more secluded, it seems to experience more than other lakes.

As for the fishing, it is not as productive this time of the year due to the warm water temperature. The fishing should improve significantly in October. Good luck.

I read a thread on another forum. I'll have to try to dig it up later tonight.

Was out at Rice first thing at 7am until 12pm with no luck. The water is definitely too warm. I saw a few come up early in the morning though.

I know stocking reports haven't been updated but anyone been catch rainbows lately? maybe it's been stocked but not updated?

It will most likely get another stocking this week or next, it was stocked with 290 catchables Sept 17th but with the fishing pressure in there, 290 fish does not last very long. I was lucky enough to catch my share of those 510 gram fish.
