Chilliwack River, January 31st 2010

We hit the lower river today and my buddy was rewarded with a beauty the fish put up a great fight including leaping completely our of the water once , water was in great shape nothing for me today.

13 lbs on the scales at home gutted

I met up at 7:30am with a FWR forum member who had a centerpin and rod to sell. Took a look at it and liked it so parted with some cash and headed to the river.  I wasn't intending to use it today but didn't want to leave in the car either.

Once at the chosen spot I thought "what the heck" I'll try it out. 3rd cast and the float shoots down, fish on! First thing I thought was that I'm always filming  Winter steel with a fish on, so I turned on the camera and put it on a rock.

Fought it for about 5 min and as it tired I saw it was a hatch- nice! but as it was at my feet the leader snapped and it won its freedom. Not so bad as I was happy to break in the new rod so fast.

Not many guys in my area. Great day!
