Shimano Curado 200E7 Vs 300E
Hi Guys,
Recently I made the purchase of a Shimano Curado 200E7, to go along with this Sage 3113M Gear rod. The purpose is for drift fishing, rivers like the vedder/stave etc.
Just wondering if anyone here uses the 200E model, and whether or not the 300E would have been the better choice, since its able to hold more line, higher drag system etc.
Looking for your opinions.
Might end up swapping this one for a 300E if you can convince me.
The one great thing about the 200E7 is the faster Gear Ratio: 7.0:1
(Quicker retrieves, more time spent drifting (at least thats what im telling myself)
The gear ratio and the lightness of the reel basically won me over. What are your thoughts.. would the 300E of been a better choice for fishing all types of salmon, springs included?
Note: Using Braided line 30LB, which carries a diamater of 12LB Mono, this gives me 240 yards with the 300E, and only around 130 with the 200E.
Will a 130 Yards be enough? taking into consideration line breaks, shortenings every once and a while for retying knots, cutting a few feed for that sliding weight once and a while, etc... what is your opinion/experience with this kind of length on a drift reel, fishing places like fraser river, vedder, stave, is 130 yards sufficient? keep in mind im drift fishing from shore. no boating/down rigging..
