What do you do to make the roe into individual eggs?

It is way easier to tie individual eggs.

I got lots of single eggs by doing this to a spring salmon this fall.  The eggs still stuck to the skein but it was way too thick to cut into chunks.  So I laid a skein flat, with the skin was on the bottom and used a knife to cut the skein in half so there were two pancakes of eggs.  The eggs without skin, I cut into chunk and cured.  After curing and a little stirring, the eggs all broke apart and I have so many I have to give some away.  The half with skin turned out ok and I think I will be able to fish them as chunks.

I don't deliberately try to make singles myself. The bags in my pic were made from the singles that fell off the skein during curing/drying/boraxing.Started making bags so they woudn't go to waste.I have tied bags from skein chunks with good results.

younggun,

How long does it take you to go through the roe in your freezer?
it looks like you have enough for 10 years!
