A friend from Michigan swears by them, says it out fishes everything he's used. And these are not pink rubber worms, but real live nightcrawlers.  Anyone locally use them and find they were successful? Or is just east coast success.

Dew worms works fine.

They just dont last long and after a few casts they tend to go soft and dead looking
allways worth a try

I use garden worms. I have even dug them up along the river when I run low. The work really well

First check the regs for the flow you're going to use them on.
Yes, they do work,
 but that being said they will not help you catch them if you don't fish them properly and this goes for any bait/lure you choose.

Sometimes worms will be the lure de jour and likewise roe, spoons, bugs......
You can have the best bait of the hour and still not catch anything if it's not presented properly, in the zone.
It is a good thing to have in your arsenal but don't think it's the bomb.
Some flows have better success with them then others but it depends on so many variables.
That's why I carry some rubber ones with me instead of digging up the garden every time I go out.
Sometimes it's just the change that makes the difference not live vs. rubber
but then again sometimes it just has to be live and you don't find out till the next day that you were so close......

They work, then again, all my steelhead have taken the first bait that went past them, so they aren't picky a lot of the time.

 i saw a show years back, where there was a "small person" fishing with a guide and the host fishing for steelhead in the great lakes area and  the small person had dew worms in a tim horton cup in his vest and  he had fish the whole show... i tried worms my outing this year and nothing to show... my buddy had success on anything he put in the water... makes me think there not picky one bit... the bait has to be in zone... no matter what it could be...  if any one hates the dirt aspect i keep the worms in a small container with some ice, keeps them really fresh and alive.
