Over 60 kids and families showed up to our Family Fishing Day Event. Over 90% caught fish and gave 50 rod and reel combos away plus other prizes. All it all it had been a tremendous success. Thank you to Bill Otway for all the help in organizing this event plus all other volunteers, including the CO team of Merritt who have been present with tips on fishing regulations, assisted with angling advice and even cleaned fish. I am looking forward to next year, but first we have to get the Angling Ambassador Event over and done with.
Here are a few pictures.
By 9am we had a formidable crowd waiting for the registration booth to open.
After registration the people quickly headed to the lake to get to the best spots.
It didn't take long for the first fish to arrive at the scale. The heaviest trout weighed in at 3.5 lb the smallest at 1 lb.
A proud young angler with his catch of the day.
Some families got away from the crowd on the shore by using a boat. Smart idea!
Our Conservation Officers were busy throughout the event giving event gores advice on regulations and fishing tactics.
Our goal for the event was simple. Get as many fish caught as possible. To that end we would do whatever we had to with advice and helping setting up gear.
