HIP WADERS (INPUT NEEDED)
« on: August 23, 2010, 05:35:58 AM »

I need a new pair of Hip Waders and I am having a hard time finding a top of the line product--Would you be willing to offer some advice on a product that you have found to work well. I also would like to know where to buy the waders and the price paid. Thank You in advance for any advice.

winter steel and bug pumper both wear hip waders every now and then.  That said due to the infrequency they wear them, I can't see any point in buying a "top of the line product" in terms of hippies.  In fact, I dont think therre is much product variety at all.  I think they both wear a the same type - a green rubberized set.  I would suggest thats all you need.  Only choice is felt or rubber sole and they are split on that.

Thank You for your reply--That being said--I wear my waders alot for launching my boat mostly and over the years I have found that you only get what you pay for. If you pay cheap you usually get cheap and replace more often. I realize that in Canada the selection of hip waders are limited and that is why I have the posting to see if someone else has seen something better than the normal Canadian Tire special. If a person wishes to go with the mail order route there is a huge selection available. If possible I would rather support our local stores, not the U.S.A. stores and the postal service. Thanks again for your reply!

I have the Springbrook brand ones which are neoprene.  The boots can be refelted.  I would say the quality is very good and they are durable.  They were from Michael and young.  I think Freds also has them.  Try searching for Springbrook dealers.  I have also seen another brand and they are green in color.  The Springbrooks are brown.

SIMMS G4 Pro - durable, breathable awesomeness! I have used the freestone and the rivertek but the G4 PRO seem to be the best so far. I have run the gauntlet on waders over the years and Simms is it. They are excellent on dealing with warranty work. The gear is solid and worth the price paid. Patagonia is also a very good brand although I have never used them myself. Try Reaction Fly in Abby or M&Y in Surrey, Good luck

There is a tall church across the street from the statue

with crosses, steeples, bells and a vast door that looks like

a huge mousehole, perhaps from a Tom and Jerry cartoon,

and written above the door is "Per L'Universo."

Around five o'clock in the afternoon of my cover for

Trout Fishing in America, people gather in the park across

the street from the church and they are hungry.

It's sandwich time for the poor.

But they cannot cross the street until the signal is given.

Then they all run across the street to the church and get

their sandwiches that are wrapped in newspaper.

May I suggest you drop the hip waders altogether and go for a pair of high end wading pants (aka waist waders)?

They are much safer than traditional hip waders.
