I was at the Peg Leg the other day and needless to say it was extremely crowded. I found a spot where there was about 7 ft of space on either side of me. A fellow fisherman later just butt in on one side and he was less than 4 ft away from me. Obviously there was some argument and I am sure this is a common problem there. Just curious if there is a generally acceptable distance between fishermen ( like a gentlemen's agreement ) when bottom bouncing ?

That is normal at Pegleg. If you leave your spot for a second, you will not be able to come back.

Oh great, another chance for the non's to say 'there are no gentlemen flossers blah blah blah'.
Anyways, I think it depends on the 2 individuals and how you have to cast at your particular spot. If someone steps into my space and it changes what I have to do to cast, I'll say something. But if they step in and adjust their casting to suit me, then it usually works out. Where I go, I cast left to right due to the makeup of the bank behind me (so do the others), but potentially someone could come and touch my right shoulder and cast overhead from the right without problem. Years ago I fished peg and remember it to be an overhead cast on the right side, so if they step in on your left, it would really depend on how they cast. All scenarios are different.
Sometimes I like it when someone buds in early. Just get it over with and make a friend, and not have to worry about it again, cause at some point it'll likely happen.

I usually warn them they they are within my cast zone, and could get hooked... they have been warned.... just make sure you make friends with the BIG guy on the otherside 1st... then there will be no issues with the new guy when he gets hooked in the nose

7 feet, that's a luxury!

If your rod tip can touch my rod tip when the rods point at each other, then you're too close.

If I have to wait for my turn to cast while you drift your rig down the river, then you are too close.

These are my comfort zone of course, obviously not what you would apply at Peg Leg, that's why I don't fish anywhere near it.

  A few days ago I met person with bigger comfort zone. He complained that 60 +feet !!!!! too close and he can not cast using 5 feet spinning rod. I just left....

The acceptable space for casting depends on If the guy next to you is impaling you with hooks.
