Saltwater fishing trip
« on: October 18, 2010, 11:07:48 PM »

Our Company is looking at booking a fishing trip over on Vancouver Island.

The species that we would like to target is Springs, Coho and Halibuts.

We will be looking at booking a guided fishing trip with clients for minimun of two boats for 2 day fishing trip with accomodations.

Most helpful if I receive advice of where to go, peak time and recommended fishing charters.

Concentrating on:

(1) Port Alberni
(2) Uclulet
(3) Tofino
(4) Barkely Sound

I have to keep in mind to minimize the chances of big swells for clients that may get sea sickness.

Your feedback is appreciated.

Cheers,

Mike.

Mike, for this year? The season for offshore fishing is pretty much over (salmon have returned to streams and halibut closure is now in effect). If for next year, take a look at http://www.ospray.com/

If for this year, freshwater trips are still available. Check out http://www.murphysportfishing.com/, the riverside lodge is nice to stay at for your company and there are both salmon and steelhead to be caught.

As Rod suggested, the salt-water season is basically over at this point. Pretty well all the guides i know have pulled their boats, myself included.

If you're thinking of next year, feel free to shoot me a PM. Likely can point you in the right direction - Ukee based of course, as that is where I operate from...

Cheers,
Matt

Sorry meant 2011, as putting together our 2011 budget, as I am in charge of putting together a fishing trip each year (tough job).

Around 6 to 10 fishermen, so could be up to three boats for 2 day fishing trip.    This could become an annual event for our Company, as most of our clients are in the Mining Industry.  (luv bushwacking and fishing in the middle of nowhere in smaller streams).

Thanks.

Prime time for springs is mid-July to mid-August. A little later for coho - a little earlier for halibut.

6 to 10 people is 3 boats minimum - might be tough to get all from the same group as most guides are individuals.

There is no way to avoid the big swells if you want to target the good fishing areas - take the gravol or spend the day barfing.

Book by Feb/March if you want to get in with anyone decent.

I know a guy in Tahsis and another in Bamfield if you are interested.
