Chilliwack River, October 24th 2010
« on: October 24, 2010, 04:34:43 PM »

well headed out again this morning a little later then usual but i needed some sleep. went back to the spot i was at yesterday in hope for some more coho. today was different though, lot of chums rising an no sign of coho. spent all day chucking roe at the fish but nothing would bite. decided to move to another spot just a little bit up river. got their to see a few coho rising and some more chum aswell. spent another hour throwing roe and blades but still couldnt get a fish.... feeling pretty bad about the day i decided to put a small spoon on and try my luck their.. a few casts later fish on.... took me by such a surprise, really didnt think id catch anything on the spoon. but anyways i real in a small wild hoe and release it. after that fish i end up loosing that spoon on a snag soo i try a different one and what do you know, this spoon works even better and a  better sized coho on a few cats later but i couldnt land it. moved down a few steps and began the sloughter haha once the chum pasted by the coho turned on with a quick 2 hatchery fish both big fish but one was huge and full of eggs. ended up hooking about 7 cohos landing 5 and keeping 2.. all in about an hour  ended up being a good day. heres a few pics of the day

one of the wilds.

the two i brought home, one buck and one doe...

Guess I should try spoons more often, but I'm cheap and chicken out at the prospect of loosing a $4 spoon to a snag.  Wish shops sold spoon blanks like they do blades.

Why not get everyone on the forum to pile in 10 bucks and call up Gibbs for a bulk order of spoons, at 2 bucks a piece.

Nice fish.

I was out thisw afternoon as well, and also managed to bring two coho home. Got mine on roe though. One was a bit red, the other chrome.

Also released two springs, and some jack coho. No chum for me today.

Looks like I have, been missing out on some good fishing as I have spent the last week with Alexandra Morton on the Paddle for Wild Salmo on the Fraser River

I hope a few can join on the march from Vanier Park at 9 o'clock tomorrow to the Cohen Inquiry
