I have a chance to go on a ocean guided fishing trip for two full days on the West Coast of Vancouver Island on the first week of July 2011. Can anybody recommend what is the best place to fish for chinooks and halibut, would it be Bamfield, Uculet or Tofino. Also can you recommend a guide outfit. Thanks.

I 'third' the recommendation for IronNoggin out of Ucluelet.  If he can't take you out - he knows of others that would and you won't be disappointed.  I ended up going out with High Rollers Charters (Nog pointed me in that direction) and had a great time.  Multiple Chinook hook ups - a couple close to 30 pounds.  And then we had a battle with one heck of a halibut - it was pulling the boat against the drift.  Didn't land it - but what a blast.  ;D

That early I would go further up the Island.  Fished out of Tofino and Ukee early last July and the Springs were small.
Wait till Aug or further up the island...

Not all of them!  ;)
Our crew managed to tag the first handful of 30 pound plussers in late June this past season!
And while there certainly were more of the twenty-somethings about, the early Biggies were there if you waded through the lighter ones.
And halibut were already in Full Roar (and in close!) by July!

Thanks for the recommends Gentz! Appreciated!  ;D

Rye: Feel free to drop me a PM. Can provide some advice if you so desire...

Cheers,
