Calcutta 401 te
« on: December 19, 2010, 04:56:54 PM »

So I stupidly decided I would take apart my calcutta 401 te and clean it. Not knowing how complex it was compared to my abu. I was wondering if anyone knew a video on assembly or diagram.

Thanks

I feel your pain.. I did the same thing last year and had to send it to Shimano to be put back together.

Hope this will work for you.

Actually, this one will work better, for your reel is LEFT hand retrieve:

I hear your pain. I am mechanically challenged, and i have enough trouble maintaining my vintage Abu collection.
Don't even want to think what taking a Shimano apart would be like...

Yes it cost me about $30 for a spinning reel IIRC.

Deep Blue Sales is still in Surrey but no more reel servicing.

You can send it to Shimano in California and they'll service it, I had my doubts dealing with the US company over the phone but they sent me the parts I needed free, try getting that locally.

Seems ridiculous that I have to send a reel to California for servicing.

Well you can send it to Mikes or Express or even to Onterrible but California is closer than Onterrible and usually cheaper lots of guys in the USA rave about Shimano service that's never been the case here.

So if Shimano has extended their quality service to this market all the better.

Wait till you have to do warranty on a rod. You have to ship it to Ontario.

I do rebuilt my Calcuttas by myself. It is not dificult if you have a diagram and follow it. It has at least double ammount of parts if you compare it to ABU.
