My favorite was Rumbles sporting goods in New West.

Now i shop at Hatch Matchers mainly because they are just up the street.
SeaRun is also a great store with an excellent selection of everything but also a very good supply of tying materials.
Wish i was closer to Berrys and Nikka as i allways liked to shop there when i used to buy a lot of gear at the beginning of the Salmon season.

Troutwaters in Kelowna was a great shop too and now i believe its Nick has set up an online store with great pricing.

As a newby to fishing...only 2-1/2 years...I really like Highwater but it's too far to away from me.  I have always enjoyed the staff at Berry's but get great service at Army & Navy in Langley and Wholesale Sports...there are a couple of guys at Wholesale sports that seem to know their stuff and I just picked up a new Bare Vedder rainjacket there...and a new 6wt Reddington Fly rod.  Being new, I can't justify spending the money on a G-Loomis rod or Islander reels...service and price!

You don't have to have expensive equipment to catch fish, I used to catch steel on a spinning reel as a kid, but after a while you'll wonder "how can I make this better?"
and unfortunately better equipment costs more.

Be happy with what you have.

It can get expensive after someone lends you a good/better rod/reel.........
(I hate it when someone offers; when I'm not in the market for a new one)

Move up slowly, don't play "keeping up with the Jones's"
Not everyone with a PIN knows what they're doing; even though they look cool.

Speaking of that... I think it's time i find some real fishing buddies. I'm sick of trying to drag out the friends in my "circle" by offering them the use of one of my rods, all my terminal tackle, bait, free drive out to the location + gas, and then the gull to be "disappointed" that i caught a fish and they didn't  :-\
