Chilliwack River, March 12th 2011
« on: March 12, 2011, 04:33:15 PM »

After hearing all the excellent reports, I decided to head out despite the prediction of heavy rain and wind.

I decided to wait until around 6:30am before heading out and arrived at the lower river just after 7:30am. As I crossed the Keith Wilson Bridge, I noticed lots of fishermen, both up and down the bridge. I decided to park and walk down the canal.

As I walked down I saw a guy fishing below so I decided to fish above him( hoping he would walk down ). As I was covering water, I saw the guy below me started to walk down and decided to leave for maybe better pasture. As it was raininig pretty heavy, I had to keep drying my glasses. During one of these stoppages and having the float still drifting out there, I noticed my float dipped a couple time. I decided to step back a bit and threw it into the same spot. Boom!!!! sure enough, the float went down completely and I set the hook. The chromer jumped several times and made some big runs before I could tame it. It was about a 8lb wild hen and I gently let it back. When I was done I looked back and noticed that about 6 fishermen close to where I was fishing now. WTF!!!!

Another guy was able to hook a wild one to my right 15 minutes later.

I decided to head further down as it was starting to get crowded.

I spoke to a guy who fished that spot first thing in the morning with nothing to show but I decided I will give it a try anyways. I made a cast into about 3 feet of water and let it drift further down. I could not believe how aggressive this fish was as it took my float completely down. I set the hook hard and the battle was on again. With twigs and branches around I had to really take my time. As it got closer, I noticed the missing adipose fin so I gently slip it up on shore. With that my day was done.

My buddy Khim saw me and he came to fish beside me and he was into a giant that broke his leader after 5 minutes of battle.

That is a well taken picture. You could enter that one in photo contest.
Or good background on puter.
