where to go?
« on: July 12, 2011, 07:47:15 PM »

Im taking some friends out crabbing and we havent really done any fishing in the saltwater. We will be out by cates park with a few 5 year old kids.
I am wondering if anybody may have some ideas as to what and where we could go and fish for a couple of hours while we wait for our bounty of crab?
What type of gear should we use and a general idea of where would be great..
We dont have a trolling motor so casting or jigging is what we are limited to.

All info will be helpful and appreciated, Im hoping to create some great fishing memories for the kids.

Thanks Guys Rob

If you get lucky, a school of pinks will show up and make a memorable time.  Casting small spinners and spoons will get you into them.  You can try jigging as well or try fishing some bait right off the bottom.

Try dropping a herring or anchovy to the bottom in hopes of a flounder or dogfish. 5 year old kids usually have a short attention span so this may be your best bet in catching a few fish.

Are you using a boat?  try jigging some buzz bombs anywhere out there.  It's the ocean.  I often see fish on the depth sounder.  Who know what you'll get.
