joffre lakes... andyone have any advice?
« on: August 05, 2011, 05:21:37 PM »

Hi All,

I'm heading up there this weekend. Not a lot of info on it, but from what I gather, the bottom two are stoked and the top one also has fish (on the small side) in it. I am planning on packing in my 4 piece fly rod and a little spin caster as welll.

any and all advice is much appreciated... unless it doesn't help me catch fish ;D

have a great weekend everyone!

Andrew

Its a cold lake and the fish dont get big. Pretty strong blue colour as its glacier fed. So bring some bright coloured size 18 flies!

Gorgeous spot. Might be fun to fish a while but the real attraction is the mountains and glaciers there. Hike to the top lake and keep goin up - you will remember it longer than catching some 8" trout!
Of course you can do the climb, then still come down and fish!  :D

Duffy Lake  farther up the road is a bigger more productive lake, I have caught decent tout in there.

My advice would be to hike up to the glacier with a bottle of scotch and have a glacier ice drink!
