Lac Le Jeune

Heading up with some friends and their kids and would like any info pertaining to this lake that might help us catch some fish - where and flies

Take the kids to Walloper Lake which is right next to Lac Le Jeune. Not many big ones , but the kids will have fun with the loads of little ones.

Lac le Jeune *should* be good for caddis. I like to fish a dry fly here at dusk when all the other boats are heading in. Fishing in the dark has its challenges tho.  :D

any consistent areas to hit - from what i hear the shoals on either side of the lake around the middle bend sound like the best bet?

fishing was great at Lac
had some nice dry fly action on tom thumbs and royal wolfs
most of fish caught with pheasant tail (there was a strong mayfly hatch) and gomphus but also caught fish on micro leeches and damsels (lots of damsels hatching as well)
fish were small but caught a couple in the 18 - 19" range and my friend lost a monster - must have been at least 5 lbs!  Didn't see anything like it all weekend.
caught most of our fish in the shallow bay at the south east end of the lake

bring the kids favorite books or gadgets in the boat while fishin Lac Le Jeune

Bring their favorite book or gadgets with plenty of snacks and goodies.    Then  use an indicator  with a chironomid.   this gives you time to talk or play with them while the  trout does the rest.    Let me know if this works.

Dry flies in the evening are great. Just look for fish rising.

There's something about that lake and dry flies- I usually strike out on dries, but at LLJ I caught more in the evening, on the good old tom thumb and humpy.
