I was a die hard conventional baitcaster fan starting with an ABU Ambassadeur many years ago and my latest reel being a Luna 253L.
Some how for whatever reason, I was slow in making the switch.
After seeing some of my fishing buddies using Curados this season, I also got myself a Curado 201E7.
All I can say is, I should have done this years ago.
The biggest difference is weight: Curado weighs 223g vs 315g for my Luna.
If we consider how much casting we do in a typical steelhead or salmon season, this 100g or so difference is no laughing matter.
Also, because the spool is so light, it casts as far, if not further, than a spinning reel.
Yes, my Luna is more solid built but I think more people will foregone some durability in exchange for lighter weight for steelhead or salmon fishing.
Maybe I am getting old.
