Hate to tell you guys this, but even the freshest run of pinks will always have spots visible (even if they're faint) on the back and both lobes of the caudal fin.

Sockeye sometimes will have spot- like markings on the back and tail..usually sparsely dispersed and minimal. The best way to tell (when on hand) is to fan out the tail...sockeye tails will square off and start to lose the V shape.

i believe this fish is the latter, but it's hard to make distinction from one photo.

for the classification on pinks...it states they have no silver on the tail.
