Labour Day Weekend!Big Fishing weekend at the park and HUGE equestrian weekend at the park.
We have 130ish horses arriving on Friday. A few tonight from Alberta.
There will be no overflow Fishing trailer parking in the front parking lot.
If required FVRD and the gate house will have fishing vehicles parking in the dog walk parking area but limited as this weekend is always busy with spectators.
There is a parking area that has been mowed just before the park gates - there will be NO fishing vehicles allowed in there. It is the volunteer and spectator parking for the Horse Event.
This is our 24th Year of the Island 22 Horse Trials and in all that time the sockeye season has only been open on this weekend a small number of times. We have never had any issues with fisherman in the past - the FVRD just panics about the number of vehicles that show up.
We are not anticipating any issues between us.
There is a concession on site.
Dogs on leash.
And there is a big BBQ and Dance with live music on Sunday evening if you would like to join us. Buy your BBQ tickets at the show office across from the ring before you head out on the river and then come back and have supper.
and music. (Office is the big trailer parking in front of the ring.)
Come on out and watch! Bring the kids.
Saturday is the technical dressage.
Sunday is the overly exciting Cross Country. This is where they gallop through the water and over the big jumps.
Monday is the make or break challenge in the main ring over jumps.
