Since the local lakes were being restocked I decided to do a little fishing at LaFarge lake. While looking for a nice spot to set up shop, I noticed roughly about 10 others fishing at the lake. I was there for about 3 hours and ended up with nothing.
I started out with a blue/silver spinner for about twenty minutes, no luck. For the remainder of the time I float fished with a pink egg fly, still no luck.
There was a gentlemen to the left of me using the same setup as mine but his egg was greenish yellow. He ended up leaving the lake with 3 rainbows.
I just checked and the lake has been restocked with 800 rainbows, now I am sad.
Any members fish at lafarge? if so what types of bait are you using?
I am thinking about going back with some worms, or I might try Deli shrimp just like the 'Bait Fishing for Stocked Rainbow Trout' By Rodney Hsu article.

Worms, shrimp, powerbait etc will all outfish an unscented egg fly.

Try different depths under your float, from 2 feet to 10 feet.

Also, try just a couple split shot (no float) with a foot and half leader to your bait with a floating power egg or powerbait or scented/coloured 'trout marshmallow"  so your bait is just up off of bottom.

I was at laFarge this morning ,I left with 3 fish ,all caught on spinners . Were you the person at the bottom of small steps on the beach side ?

brookboy: only if you have a pontoon or bellyboat.

I know a lot of people that fly fish might not agree with this or might say just use bait but, I have used nymphs and egg fly's covered in scent like mikes lunker lotion and other things like that for stocked trout it works pretty well.

Next time, its probably a little better for the fish if you don't lay it down on the pavement as it removes the slime and scales leaving the fish prone to infection.  Same goes for all fish you intend on releasing.  We've all done it at some point, but I doubt it was occurred to me before someone pointed it out to me.  Nice fish, glad you were successful.

Try a piece of deli shrimp on a small hook under a float with 4lbs leader, that used to work well for me on similar lakes.

Yeah, I'd release it too.  Apparently hatchery/farmed rainbow trout don't taste good.  And if they're coming out of nasty lakes like Como & Lafarge...definitely wouldn't want to eat them.  But ditto on the pavement.  Just try and keep the fish in the water, and release it there.
