Calm, sunny and warm, today couldn't be a better day for fishing in the Tidal Fraser River for coho salmon. We once again started at 2:30pm to catch the incoming tide. The bites didn't repeat yesterday, it was better! From 3:00pm to just before 4:30pm, the bites were constant. Although all of the catches were either wild or hatchery-marked coho jacks, it was still a lot of fun. There were many misses and up to 30 hook-ups among 10 anglers. I managed to hook five and brought three of them in. One of them that came off felt like a bigger fish than the 30 to 40cm ones we landed. We ended up keeping one hatchery-marked fish around 35cm for tomorrow's meal. At one point, the bites came as soon as the bait settled on the bottom. This happened with 5 or 6 casts in a row and for some reason every single one was missed.

Yeah nice day for weather and fish.  More fish on than during pink season!

nice report Rod!  I managed to catch the incoming tide yesterday afternoon too and managed to get my first coho of the season - although it was a small jack, it was also wild and was released unharmed.  I caught it on a home made spinner.  Good start to the coho season.

ive been on fire this start, new roe recipe in 2 trips ive landed 11fish, 10jacks (1 hatchery , the rest wild) and i got a beautiful 6lb northern buck too today which was also wild and released safely unharmed , sadly no pictures as it was raining hard and i didnt wanna harm it, the fish didnt even come out of the water

I tried the Richmond Fraser river part and have no luck , strong wind, can't cast too well
Do all of you have boats or something?

which part of the tidal fraser is fishable on shore? I wanna catch some coho too but I don't want to /can't either go to vedder river everyday

all from shore, how cant you cast well ? are you using lures im guessing? i just bar fish roe, 2oz pencil lead stick , no lures for me

anyone ever try short floating roe in the fraser near the surface instead of bottom bar fishing? just wondering if coho would sit near the bottom of the deeper fraser or not because you can see alot of them coming to the surface when they are present and some parts of the fraser shores drop off pretty quick?

jacked , it can be done, but its a bit of a waste, i would recomend sticking with a bar rig , its worked for years and years before for coho, why change?
