Chilliwack River, October 12th 2011: Not much of a report
« on: October 12, 2011, 04:14:54 PM »

We drove by the KW Bridge this morning and saw no islands visible. However, people were still fishing it. The visibility looks really bad and after speaking to the lady that does the fish count, she confirmed that nothing much was happening.

We drove all the way up and stopped by Borden Creek. Water clarity was good but a bit too high for my liking. We fished for about couple hours with nothing to show.

Decided to go to Pointa Vista for lunch and went home.

Hope that was the last of the rain and this weekend will be good again.

Water was OK at first light in the lower end, had a few takes in the first hour, but wasn't able to get a good hook set. I would say the visibility was pretty bad by 10, which is when I left for another river.

I moved around today checking some new spots in the Lower and found a good spot, missed a fish 3 times most likely a coho jack. Later I landed a Chinook jack that I kept, will hit this spot at first light tomorrow, full moon out now and clear so hope for no rain, it should be prime. When cleaned the jack later I found it was red fleshed. ;D ;D Cleaned up some garbage and found a few nice floats too in this area.

I then went up river and visited the boys at the hatchery and they told me about more tire damage at Allisson pools.  :'( :( In cleaning up some garbage at the Limits Hole and saw a chap fishingh there I told him it was closed, "can I take a few more casts he asked", of course I said not a good idea as the fine would be hefty.

Then I stopped at the Cement Slabs and was shown by an American his keyed vehicle, said some friends suffered the same damage  :(, said he would rent a car when he comes next time. Tried a couple of spots down river but no luck, water prime. I also found a tackle box, how do so many things get left behind? Stopped at Fred's and gave them my contact info if anyone stops in there reporting it lost. I will post here too after this report.

Looking forward to some good action tomorrow. ;D ;D

Chris,

Someone on the general discussion page posted about losing their backpack today.  The thread was titled "bad day" or something like that?!

Good luck tomorrow, looking forward to the report

fish don't disappear when the conditions get tough...they're still there just harder to get a bite out of em.  My dad and I hooked 8 fish yesterday, all on hardware.  5 long line releases, 2 off at the net and one bonked.

Happened to be probably the second biggest coho I have ever caught so still a pretty satisfying day.  after bleeding and removing the gills and guts when I weighed the fish at home on a digital scale, it read 11lb 10oz so I figure it was a solid 13+ fresh outta the river!
