Chilliwack River, October 17th 2011

Decided to head out to try fishing the afternoon until late.

From 1:30pm to 5:00pm, not a single sniff on my roe. As soon as the sun was about to set, the bite was on.

I just could not make them stick and only managed to land one hatch.

Nice pics.  Was out Monday AM myself.  From 7:30 until noon.  Landed 1 wild 1st cast in a shady stretch down near the gravel pile at the end of the dike road.  Move upstream a number of times but no sign of worthwhile fish anywhere.  Saw a few fairly clean Pinks still moving up in the Gun Barrell area.  Was approached by a Canada Fisheries officer, although we had a good chat bout fishing and his career, he didn't ask to see licenses.  ??  Had a chat with the creel survey lady - she was working her way down from Tamahi.  Said she had only seen or heard of 3 caught in upper.


One odd thing I saw that I've not seen in the past 10 years of fishing the Chedder system was a male sockeye carcass on the beach in the run just north of central Yarrow.  Had no adipose.   I opened it up and saw that the milt glands were very small so I'm assuming that it had spawned.  Odd that it was so far down the river though.  Anyone else ever seen one in the lower reaches?

Seen a number of them, including clipped ones.

On Saturday I've counted 4 clipped sockeye carcasses in the span of 50 yards In the canal
