Chilliwack River, October 20th 2011
« on: October 20, 2011, 09:44:52 PM »

Got to lower river below trainbridge at around 830, after stop @ Fred's to pick up a pair of waders for the missus.

Lost one chum (probably) near the shore after a spirited battle immediately after starting fishing then nothing. No bites til after eleven landed a spring and another chum before I left at one. Funny thing was both fish came while fixing my wifes rats nests, look up and float is nowhere to be seen. Even after reeling about twenty feet of slack in was able to bring the fish in. No bites almost all day and then two takedowns with no one at the helm.   Sheesh.  Guys on the other side were pulling out coho.

Overall a good day fishing action was slow for us but nice to be out there, good people and laid back about her learning :)

Nice Job getting the missus into fishing...mine is only interested in watching...when she can work on a tan.

Well it's either she join me or not see me on my rare day off. I just hope she sticks with it after spending hundreds of dollars on waders, boots, rod, license etc.... Could amount to a very expensive outing!

one word of advise. DO NOT take her steelheading unless she is fully warned of the things that go along with it and make sure she understands them (cold, wet, fishless days, miles of walking)

I warned mine in our first year of dating, she decided to join anyways (came a few times) but it turned her right off and now she only comes sockeye or lake fishing (nice weather only). Im sure she will start coming more once our boys get older though otherwise she will never see us !!  ;D LOL

Thanks for the advice hook. I will keep her to summer and fall fishing for now. Although she certainly seems to have caught the fever she keeps asking when we are going out again. Maybe next week I can get her into that elusive first salmon
