Glad to hear no one has had any negative encounters. I don't plan on exploring the shelters that I find, and to those who do, that's got to be interesting to see how crafty these individuals can be.

Yeah, who are you?

A hunter of fish.

Don't worry, maybe one day we'll meet. Meeting was a little dry, don't ya think?

Good luck with that nomination ;)

Rumour has it that many riverside dwellers used to post on FishBC -when that place imploded they 'just couldn't face another day' and retreated from the larger world.

Yeah, same here. She was nice and her research was well prepared, but to be honest it didn't really tell me anything I didn't already know about ISA and I was confused as to why the sockeye there were smaller than what Matt was saying about the chilco sockeye...

I wonder what their story is? Fugitive, by choice, just homeless? Just brings the movie Deliverance to mind and creeps me out, LOL.

i've been told a few of the dwellers suffer from mental illness... best to leave them be and maybe inform the authorities of their presence...most of the time you won't encounter them because they're out and about scavenging for cans or going about their business.

It could be a lot of things. There is also quite a pretty decent populace of people that practice 'Bushcraft' and 'Wilderness-Self Reliance' here in the Lower Mainland, and also in the Fraser Valley. But you rarely see the foot steps of those people in the wild unless they are the ones that wanna be found looking all Bear Grylls-esque ;)

Ive seen them in Yarrow on a few occasions. One of them came out and we had a little chat while I was fishing. He pulled out his rod and started casting beside me. He landed a coho and as be was killing it, he was speaking to the fish and saying how sorry he was that he had to kill it.
