Beautiful fly! Page is bookmarked and will tie a few for the steelie season!
I have a question regarding tying intruders. Most tailers are tied with Dacron line or braided 20ibs, are there any other options to tie tailer with a stiffer line or may I be able to incorporate steel wire to stiffen up the tailer so the hook does not sag? Are intruder flies meant to have it's tail dangling as a part of it's action in the water?  Perhaps, I'm just over-analyzing this intruder tying.

I use 20bls fireline. One of the stiffest out there.

Another option for a stiffer line is to use rio slickshooter.  I've heard of others using a wire leader commonly used for pike and other toothy critters.
I generally just use braid though.  Sometimes when moving over to a stiffer trailer it makes it harder to switch the hook on and off.
