Can someone tell me whether Rice Lake is frozen or not? My little son is itching for trout although he knows it will be very slow in Dec. Thanks.

The lake is mostly frozen except for the north end. The ice is not very thick, and I caught a couple of trout by smashing a hole with a stick and fishing off the dock.

Thanks for the information. I think I should bring him to Lafarge since he prefer to cast a spoon or spinner, he likes the feeling when the fish strikes his lure and he can set the hook at the right time.

Hey Ktt,

Probably a good bet, was out last weekend, not even a bite on the frozen dock.  A few other guys were there fishing as well .... nobody even got a nibble in the four hours I was out fishing.

any more recent reports? Been really slow in December when I've gone ... seeing if it's worth going out again later on in the week or waiting til the spring stockings
