Having fished yesterday with nothing to show for it, we decided to give it another try today. We knew the water conditions will be better today with the cooler weather. We stopped by Abbotsford's MacDonald to quickly grab a coffee to warm up the hands as it started to snow.
Sure enough when we got to the river, the water conditions was just perfect. We looked up river and saw flashes from someone's camera. I guess they got into fish.
We started fishing from 8:00am and for the next 3 hours people came and went with nothing to show.
At around 11:00am, my nephew got into a nice fish of about 8lbs but being new at the game, he was not able to bring it in. This was his second steelhead in the 3 years he started fishing with me. I started to fish around him to give him some pointers and around 11:30am, my float took a big dive and bam!!!! the fight was on. The fish took off down stream and when I got it close in, it decided to move upstream this time. After a few runs, I was able to bring in this beauty.
The tail shot as usual.
Took it to Fred for the derby weight in and it came in as 10.28lbs.
When I was in, I noticed 8 fished weighted in already and 14lbs was the biggest so far for the day.
