Chilliwack River, February 10th 2012
« on: February 10, 2012, 10:09:04 PM »

Seeing that i work afternoons and the river is in great shape i decided to head out for first light today, upon arriving at my first run of choice i found only 1 other fisherman within 200 yards of me ,i pounded the run top to bottom with roe and then again with some prawns but as fishy as this run looked either nobody was home or i just wasn't knocking hard enough, the lone fisherman that was up river from me did connect with a small wild, had a good chat and then onto run #2 when i arrived there were only two guys in the area and i noticed some fresh blood on the rocks, good sign i hope,i fished my way down the run with roe with not even a tap,at this point i decide to throw on my trusty spinner into a beautiful piece of water two casts later and my cork float takes a serious dive then the fun began, this fish was a large fish and made a spectacle of her self with some amazing leaps and powerful runs ,as i seemed to be slowly winning the battle and confidence was high one more leap from this beauty and she was gone as quick as she had come, after a quick hook inspection to see whats up and a quick sharpening out goes the spinner again ,two casts later float down and another solid hookup,so i think, on a much smaller fish, again i battle and just as i think I'm gaining ground pop the hook comes out,as i sit there dumbfounded i couldn't believe i lost both fish when everything seemed to go right except the landing, that was it for the day,the water conditions were beautiful as was the weather, hopefully tomorrow i will win out against these amazing fish.

Sorry to hear you lost both fish Searun but at least you hooked into some. My only trip out this year yielded me a big fat zero, except
for the greatness of the trip itself. Thanks for the report and I hope you have a Great weekend !!!

I fished the canal for a few hours yesterday afternoon. Tried my usual roe bags, pink worm, and colorado but didn't even get a bite. Saw one small hatchery fish about 5 pounds caught and retained by another angler, saw one other lost.

Thought I would add my .02 to this report.  I too was out Friday for the 2nd time this year.

Hit a fishy stretch of water just after first light.  A few guys ou theret.  Too bad I still suck at the baitcaster.  I saw two fish caught beside me hitting the same run as I was flailing around.

I thought I was getting the hang of it, but could not FOR THE LIFE OF ME figure out why I kept getting back lashes.  Turns out my line was out of sink with the line guide and that was preventing me from getting proper casts.  What a waste of the trip out, and the frustration.

Oh well, I will be out Tuesday and Wednesday.  If you see a black MX5 with a silver roof, come say hello, or find new water as I will probably be spooking the fish for 100 yards in either direction, lol.
