i feel that theres no need for fluoro, i rarely use it and still catch lots of steelhead. I always use 10 lb maxima ug for leaders and even in crystal clear water catch steelhead. Its more important to figure out where they sit and theyll hit almost anything if its presented to them. Steelhead are not leader shy fish.

--for sure burnt knot will break...surprisingly easy even slight tug... pre test prior to using.
--in derby two potential winners broke off almost immediate after hook up... same boat... all using leader material from same spool.. tip from derby winner same boat same leader material no break offs.. (WD40) used... doesn't like to spit. I've never tried WD40 but for sure spit as typhoon suggests.
