Harper's war on wild fish and the environment takes a new offensive....apparently all of DFOs Habitat Biologists across Canada got notices.

"Fisheries and Ocean is receiving particular "attention" from the government, as this represents the third round of cuts at the Department since December 2011. Today's cuts to its Habitat Management program are in line with Bill C-38, the Budget Implementation Act, which removes explicit protection of fish habitat from the Fisheries Act. These professionals are responsible for monitoring, investigating and enforcing provisions of the Act which protect fish and their habitat from the effects of harmful industrial, agricultural and land development activities."

There is little benefit to the GNP from habitat protection.   The only people that care are a few Bubbas out drinking beer and drowning worms and perhaps some environmental terrorists funded by subversive foreign organizations like Ducks Unlimited and the Sierra Club.

- I realize you're talking fed cuts but provincial is just as bad... not filling positions as current people retire.
- Maybe we should be squawking for a return to at least a Fish and Wildlife Branch... that is one that has a vested interest in providing fishing and hunting opportunities to those who pay for it with their licenses... other departments can have the money from taxes in general revenue that we all expend to get out and fish or hunt or even hike and camp on crown land.

--Nice Spin on the FFSBC site.. notice it indicates a new funding model was introduced... to bad the government has a difference of opinion when it comes to what 100% of the dollars from licenses is.

  Would the wildlife management system see more funds if our license money went back to fishing and hunting?  In the US all or most of there money goes back to fish and wildlife and they seem to have really good management and enforcement.

Dave, thanks for lesson on how a post can be thoughtless and not deliver the intended message.    The post was of course very much tongue-in-cheek. Emoticons have been added as suggested.

Nothing against golfers or skiers either.  Done that myself.   I just seem to get the impression that those making decisions in Ottawa and Victoria think the great outdoors is a golf course and as long as the grass is green the environment is OK and it happens again and again.
